Our success, built over many years, has been due largely to the way our customers, staff and other stakeholders see us. It is vitally important to us at all levels that we continue to be seen as a company that puts its responsibilities towards others at the very top of its business agenda. Formara achieved the ISO 14001 Environmental Accreditation in 2002. Having previously achieved ISO 9001 Quality Accreditation, it encouraged us to develop our management systems to take account of environmental issues. The adoption of ISO 14001 at Formara has promoted many energy saving initiatives, which have in turn cut our overheads. We have found a strong business case for ISO 14001 whilst at the same time achieving environmental benefits.
Our biggest material usage is, of course, paper. Wood for the creation of paper is farmed in much the same way as wheat or barley. Paper is recyclable and based on a renewable resource - trees. To ensure that we support sustainable forest management, we only print on paper that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This FSC certification confirms that the paper has been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially-responsible and economically-viable way.
